Horsewood supplement bottle, 60 capsules

Horsewood Ingredient: Tongkat Ali — The Engine

Tongkat Ali (Eurycoma longifolia) is a root from Southeast Asia with a long history of traditional use as a men’s tonic. The seller describes it as the engine of the formula.

The Horsewood label lists 10 mg of a 100:1 extract, which it states is equivalent to approximately 1000 mg of dried Tongkat Ali powder. Both figures describe the same capsule — one is the concentrated extract weight, the other the raw-plant equivalent.

Horsewood Ingredient: Horny Goat Weed — The Accelerator

Horny goat weed (Epimedium sagittatum) is used in traditional Chinese medicine and contains icariin, the compound most often studied in relation to healthy circulation.

The label lists 8 mg of a 10:1 extract, equivalent to roughly 80 mg of dried plant. It is the smallest single amount in the formula. Anyone on blood pressure medication or nitrates should check with a doctor first.

Horsewood Ingredient: Nettle Leaf — The Unlocker

Nettle (Urtica dioica) leaf extract appears at 20 mg. The seller includes it on the basis that it may help with testosterone already circulating in the body, working alongside saw palmetto on hormonal balance.

Worth noting for accuracy: the label specifies nettle leaf rather than root, and the two parts of the plant have different traditional uses.

Horsewood Ingredient: Saw Palmetto — The Defender

Saw palmetto (Serenoa repens) berry extract appears at 20 mg. It is one of the most widely sold plant supplements in the world, used mainly by older men for prostate and urinary comfort.

One point that matters at any dose: saw palmetto can affect a PSA blood test used in prostate screening. Tell your doctor if you take it.

Horsewood Ingredient: Wild Yam — The Recovery Component

Wild yam (Dioscorea villosa) root extract appears at 20 mg. The seller associates it with muscle recovery, physical resilience and consistent day-to-day energy.

Its compound of interest is diosgenin, and we cover on its own page why the common “natural hormone precursor” framing does not hold up in the human body.

Horsewood Ingredient: Sarsaparilla — The Endurance Component

Sarsaparilla (Smilax ornata) root extract appears at 20 mg. It has been used for generations in traditional men’s wellness practice to support stamina and sustained performance.

Its saponin content is often described as steroid-like because of chemical shape. That resemblance does not mean it behaves like a steroid in the body, which we explain on its page.

Horsewood Ingredient: Boron Chelate — The Mineral

Boron amino acid chelate appears at 20 mg. Boron is a trace mineral, and it is the only non-plant component in the formula. Small studies have examined boron in relation to free testosterone.

One transparency note: 20 mg is the weight of the chelate, not of elemental boron. The elemental figure is not published on the label.

  • Wild Yam (Dioscorea villosa) root extract — 20 mg
  • Sarsaparilla (Smilax ornata) root extract — 20 mg

Other ingredients: microcrystalline cellulose, gelatin and magnesium stearate. The gelatin is the capsule shell, which means Horsewood is not suitable for vegetarians or vegans.

Understanding extract ratios

Two ingredients carry ratios. A 100:1 extract means 100 units of raw plant produced one unit of extract, so 10 mg of a 100:1 Tongkat Ali extract started as about 1000 mg of root. That arithmetic is correct and it is what the label states.

The useful thing to understand is that these are two different measurements of the same capsule, not two separate amounts. When comparing against research, check whether a study measured the extract or the raw plant, because they are not interchangeable.

What Horsewood Does Well on Labelling

Every component carries its own printed figure. There is no proprietary blend grouping several ingredients under an invented name with one combined weight, which is common in this category and makes independent research impossible.

The panel also carries the FDA statement, a clear caution about pregnancy and under-18s, storage guidance and a real distributor address in Largo, Florida. That is what a properly written label looks like.

Safety Notes Across the Horsewood Formula

  • Saw palmetto can affect a PSA blood test used in prostate screening, and may have mild effects on bleeding.

  • Nettle may interact with diuretics and with blood pressure and diabetes medication.
  • Gelatin capsule — not suitable for vegetarians or vegans.
